This page explains what personal information The Scent Stack ("we", "us") collects, why, and your rights over it. We comply with applicable privacy and data-protection laws, including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and the EU GDPR (for European customers).
What we collect
- Name, email, shipping and billing address, phone (optional)
- Order details (what you bought, gift notes)
- Payment information — processed by our payment provider; we never see your full card number
- Browsing behaviour on our site (via cookies and analytics)
- Marketing preferences (whether you've opted in)
Why we collect it
- To process and ship your order
- To handle returns, refunds and support
- To send order updates
- To send marketing only if you've opted in
- To improve our site and range using aggregated analytics
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with our store platform (Shopify), our payment processor, our couriers, and our email and analytics providers. We never sell your personal data.
Cookies
We use cookies to run the cart and checkout, to understand how the site is used (analytics), and to measure and improve our advertising. Essential cookies (like the cart) are always on; you can decline non-essential analytics and advertising cookies via our cookie banner at any time.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above — usually while your orders and support history are active — and longer only where the law requires it (for example, tax and accounting records, which are kept for 7 years). After that we delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under the NZ Privacy Act 2020 (and the GDPR if you're in Europe) you can ask what data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it (except where we must keep records, such as tax records), and unsubscribe from marketing at any time. Email sales@thescentstack.co and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the NZ Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
